Boarding

Now that you know how to open offices and how to define on-board service, it is time to lease or buy your first aircaft.

Aircraft type evaluation

Menu manufacturers
Performancetool

First, you have to know where your aircraft is going to operate and which concept you want to offer. There is a huge variety of aircrafts to use. You have to evaluate which aircraft type suits most for the planed operations.

The page "Fleet Management" -> "Manufacturers" gives you information about all available aicraft types and varieties grouped by their manufacturer. Clicking on an aircraft type gives you an overview about the related aircraft and its general data, like distance and maximum passengers. Select one model to get to the aircraft fact sheet (detail page) and offering further information.

On the detail page is the link to the "performance check tool". The performance check tool will give more detailed information about distance, fuel consumption, fees, flight times, needed runways length and possible load on a route of your choice. You can check the aircraft's performance operated on a specific route or not.

You also have the possibility to compare the technical information of up to four aircraft model by selecting "compare aircraft" on the aircraft detail page.

Menu aircraft type evaluation

When you select the site "Fleet management" -> "Aircraft type evaluation" you can compare a unlimited number of aircraft types on a seleceted route. More information in the Advanced Concepts section Flight Management.

Acquire an aircraft

Sale/leasing

You have evaluated your first aircraft model and choose one, so it is about time to get one. On the aircraft detail page of the aircraft model you want, you'll find the option to order a new aircraft (if it is still in production) or select a used aircraft offered for leasing or purchase in the list below.

If you want to order new aircraft(s), please enter amount. On the following page you'll find various options for paying the aircraft. You can lease the aircraft(s), purchase it/ them at once or choose a loan purchase (with less Interest). Please note that purchasing more then one aircraft will result in ongoing delivery dates. The aircraft will be delivered one after the other. The production time varies and is displayed on the aircraft detail page.

If you want to get an used aircraft, click on "view contract" at a specific offer. On the next page you can see some further information and the terms of the contract. You can sign the contract there and the aircraft is "yours". The list of used aircraft has three column with the codes:

  • AS: Aircraft for sale/lease by an official AirlineSim trade group. This is a public trader - you can be sure he does not cancel the contract as long as you are paying the fees.
  • SL: Seller/lessor signature - if you sign the contract, the deal is made and the aircraft will be directly under your control.
  • CS: Buyer/lessee signature - if SL is a red cross, the seller/ lessor did not signed the contracts yet, but there maybe a potential buyer/lessee have signed it and is waiting for the signature of the seller/ lessor.

Pilots

Menu pilot management
Pilot management

(optional for new accounts, see comfort functions)

An aircraft needs pilots to fly - so we have to hire or train them. To do so, select the menue "Enterprise" -> "Pilot Management". In the first part a list with the different typeratings is dislpayed together with the number of pilots needed (red). There is a demand of 4 crews per aircraft, because a pilot can't fly 24 hours a day.

You can hire pilots, if there are some unemployed (2nd table below). If not, you can also train them - which will cost you five to eight times of a weekly salary. Enter the number of pilots you want to hire and select "hire" or "train".

Create a cabin configuration

Menu cabin configurations

(optional for new accounts, see comfort functions)

If you want to operate a cargo aircraft, this step does not apply.

Because you really do not want your passengers sitting on the ground you need a cabin configuration and fit it to your aircraft. To define a cabin configuration, select "Service&Marketing" -> "Cabin Configurations". All existing cabin configurations in your enterprise are listed and below you can create a new one. Enter a name for a cabin configuration and select an aircraft variant it shall apply for.

You can define for each class which kind of seats, how many seats and how many flight attendants you want.

  1. You define which kind of seat you want to put in each class. Each seat requires minimum space to be installed. The better your seat is, the more space it consumes and the less you may fit into your aircraft.
  2. Below the seat definition you can select the total number of seats. If you choose "0" this class won't be used in this cabin configuration. If you use the "Top up"-button, the system will calculate the maximum number of seats which are possible for this class (if you already select a number of seats in other classes, the left space will be toped up).
  3. Click on re-calculate to keep the current configuration and see how much space in your cabin is left. If you keep space left, the seats will have more leg room.
  4. Assign a number of flight attendants to the cabin configuration. Because of a fix assignment of the flight attendants towards the passengers you have to select them for each class. Please be aware of a minimum of 1 flight attendant per 50 passenger.
  5. Select "re-calculate and save" and click on "save configuration" to automatic check your configuration and save it.

Assign seating and crew

Navigation to the aircraft
Assign seating and crew

(optional for new accounts, see comfort functions)

We have defined a cabin configuration and hired the cockpit crews, now we have to assign them to the aircraft. Choose "Fleet Management" -> "Fleets" and select the fleet where your aircraft is assigned to. Most commonly it is "default" to which all aircraft purchases/ leasing will be assigned unless you re-assign it to another own defined group.

  1. Mark the aircraft in your fleet list you want to assign to a cabin configuration and the crews. You can assign one cabin configuration to several aircraft of the same model at the same time, if it is the same variant.
  2. Select the cabin configuration below the fleet list and mark this function. Does not apply to a cargo aircraft.
  3. Mark the function to assign crews.
    • Cockpit crews where hired some steps before, cabin crews will automaticly hired if needed.
    • You can assign crews for more than one aircraft together.
    • Without a assigned cabin configuration it is not possible to assign cabin crews.

Book maintenance

Menu maintenance
Maintenance contractors

(optional for new accounts, see comfort functions)

Now you have your aircraft on a tarmac somewhere in the world, the aircraft has a cabin configuration and crews are assigned - so let's start flying?

Not that fast - you need a maintenance provider! Select "Operations" -> "Maintenance" and choose a maintenance company servicing your aircrafts. There are several options with certain advantages and disadvantages. Every maintenance provider has different values for price, quality and duration of maintenance. Note:

  • Once you selected a maintenance provider, you can't change it for two weeks.
  • Do not look at the price first! Choose the provider which suits your planned operations.
