To operate an airplane you must assign a trained pilot to the corresponding airplane. You can either hire new pilots through the job listing or you might need to train new pilots. Pilots are categorized into airplane type’s license which enables the pilot to fly specific airplanes within a certain category. The categories can be found in the airplane information screen. Pilots can also be re-educated and newly trained from one to another airplane category at a later point, which off course is associated with some costs.

Procedure

Go to Enterprise → Human Resources → Pilot Management to get an overview of the pilots of your company: The spreadsheet towards the top of the screen will show you an overview of your pilot’s inventory separated into the aircraft license category. Green highlighted numbers indicated your working or already hired pilots, whereas red highlighted numbers on the last column will indicate a demand for pilots for the aircraft you properly just acquired. Be aware that an aircraft typical requires a pilot and a copilot, mind that some aircrafts need only one or up to three pilots. In addition aircraft do operate 24/7 which will require you to hire a total of four times the pilots required for each aircraft to cover all shifts.

Hiring and Training Pilots

In the screen center you have will have the current job listing of pilots which are available on the open market. If there are no pilots enlisted in the aircraft license category you require, you will need to train new pilots. Hiring an experienced and already trained pilot has no cost associated with it, whereas training a new pilot will cost you 5-8 times his monthly salary, depending on the aircraft license. To hire pilots on that list, you may enter the desired amount in the field below, select the aircraft license category select to hire or train and execute by pressing enter. Either hiring or training will provide you the desired pilots immediately.

Re-Training Pilots

Should you have employed but non-working pilots available due to an aircraft sale or the end of a lease, you may choose to re-train these pilots rather than hiring new ones. At the bottom of the page you should find a box very similar to that used to hire new pilots; using it is just as easy - input the number of pilots you want to re-train, select the type ratings they are to be sourced from and re-trained to operate, and click to execute. There is still an expense associated with re-training existing pilots, but it is significantly lower than training entirely new pilots, as it is assumed that existing staff have general flying experience.
