Chat
AirlineSim currently operates an integrated chat and messaging system based around the Jabber protocol. It’s free to use, but if you don’t currently have a Jabber-enabled messaging client you may need to download one to connect.
Setting up a Jabber client
First of all, you’ll need a client program that’s able to connect to a Jabber server! You can find a list of clients available for download here. Once you’ve installed the client, you’ll need to log onto the AirlineSim Jabber server. As AirlineSim uses an integrated account system, this is pretty easy – simply enter your AirlineSim username – in the format username@airlinesim.aero – and your AirlineSim password into the appropriate ‘account detail’ fields, and connect away.
Incidentally, if you already use Jabber on another server, or through another system (like Google Talk), you can still connect to the AirlineSim chat channel with your regular account – you’ll just miss out on the AirlineSim messaging facilities.
In any case, once you’re connected, you can join the official AirlineSim chat channel by connecting to airlinesim@chat.airlinesim.aero – we look forward to seeing you there! If you want to receive the latest news our gameworlds provide please join the channel status@chat.airlinesim.aero .
Please bear in mind that forum behaviour guidelines apply in the chat channel as well as on the forum itself – we try to operate in a friendly manner and would appreciate it if you could do the same. Happy chatting!
